Pooja Sharma belongs to Sindhupalchowk district from where her parents moved to capital city Kathmandu when she was three months of her birth. She is only child of her parents. Her father is doctor at Nepal Government hospital and her mother used to be a school teacher. After getting sick, her mother left teaching profession and now is living as housewife.

Pooja Sharma has completed her secondary level education from Sudesha High School, Kathmandu. Pooja had gone to Canada for further studies with aim to live permanently but she couldn't live there for some medical reason and returned back to Nepal. Pooja has completed her bachelor degree in tourism.

Pooja Sharma was also praised for her singing skill after she debuted as a singer in duet song with notable pop singer and musician Anil Singh. Out of her all movies released film "Prem Geet" is Pooja's most successful movie in 2016. For her role in "Prem Geet", Pooja was also nominated under Best Actress category for D Cine Awards.
